Leaf Care Group COVID-19 Family & Friends Update 02/04/2020
The government recently took additional measures to tackle the corona virus Epidemic. Because we work with a very vulnerable target group, we follow these rules very strictly.
Unfortunately, a visit to our locations is not permitted until further notice.
We realise that this is very frustrating for everyone and we apologise for the inconvenience. However, safety, hygiene and the best possible care for our service users and residents are currently our top priority. We count on your understanding in this very exceptional situation, so hopefully we can welcome you back in our Care Home in the near future.
This situation appears to be subject to change. We follow developments closely and adjust the guidelines daily where necessary.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Frequently Asked Questions
What if the coronavirus breaks out within Leaf Care Group?
Of course we follow developments closely and are in direct contact with experts. We have taken various precautions to ensure that we continue to provide our basic care in the best possible way, including in the event of a possible outbreak. Naturally, we keep a close eye on clients and residents and observe the usual health measures.
I have no health problems, why am I not allowed to visit?
We work with a very vulnerable target group. We therefore do everything we can to keep out the corona virus wherever possible. We closely follow the guidelines of the UK Public Health Authorities and the national government. Visits to Care Homes with frail older persons are no longer permitted until further notice. We count on your understanding in this exceptional situation.
Can I call my family member outside so that we can meet on the front porch, for example?
No, unfortunately this is also not allowed. It is really about the strict guideline that we should avoid social contacts as much as possible, especially with frail older people. In this way we try to prevent the virus from spreading among our vulnerable residents and Carers. We count on your understanding in this exceptional situation.
I bring weekly groceries and clean laundry. How do I deal with that?
Then please hand it in at reception (Thursdays), keeping 2 meters away from staff. Please provide the name of the resident. We will ensure that it is delivered to the resident.
We understand this is difficult, and we count on your understanding in this exceptional situation.
I’m afraid my Loved one will get lonely or restless without a visitor
We understand your concerns. We do everything we can to ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience in the coming weeks and we keep a close eye on the well-being of all residents and Service users.
Unfortunately, we cannot avoid the fact that some things are arranged differently than usual. For example, unnecessary group activities have been suspended. Where possible, we offer alternative activities in the lounge whilst practising social distancing as much as possible.
How do you adjust care tasks?
To reduce the chance of contamination, we have reduced the number of physical contact from our staff. Instead of the physical contact, we try to encourage independence. We use Extra Protective Equipment such as apron, gloves, mouth-nose mask and glasses for (suspicion of) contamination.
How do I remain involved in the care of my loved one?
You can remain involved in the care of your relative (If they are a care home resident) via the client portal on Care Control. If you have any concerns or questions about your loved one, you can always contact Care@leafcareservices.co.uk or 01603 618111. Head office. If you are having trouble getting in contact with us, please bear with us as we are receiving a high number of calls and emails at this time. We endeavour to respond to all your queries as soon as possible.
Can I help you?
As Leaf Care Group, we can currently handle healthcare well, even in these special times of the corona climate.
However, we may need additional care workers in the long term, so we have started recruiting Volunteers to help with the high need for carers- If you are interested and would like to apply, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your details.
You will be asked questions to enable us to screen for COVID-19.
How is Leaf Care Group Home Care now arranged?
Due to the prevention of the spread of the coronavirus, in accordance with the UK government measures, Leaf Care Group has made agreements with all of its partners. As a result, our services temporarily differ from what you are used to from us. All trips, day trips and activities have been canceled until further notice and will be moved if possible. People who have registered for something for example meals on wheels will have received a separate message regarding this. Our Partners who provide these activities in doing so, observe all guidelines from UK government with regard to the coronavirus. They wear gloves, stay 2 meters away and, if applicable, put the meals at our service users doorstep.
